Long Term Plan
Curriculum
Intent
INTENT – to offer a relevant, broad and reflective R.E. curriculum which enables the development of Religious literacy by engaging pupils in an enquiry approach where they can develop an understanding and appreciation for the expression of beliefs, cultural practices and influence of principle religions and worldviews in the local, national and wider global community. To give pupils valuable insights into the diverse beliefs and opinions held by people currently and to support their own personal development and understanding of spiritual, moral, social and cultural issues.
RE Days
We enjoyed learning about Prayer from different Faiths. Our Visitors from 'Prayer Space' shared some lovely activities with the children throughout the day.
RE Day- Light in Different Faiths
At William Westley, our Religious Education curriculum is designed to be inclusive, broad, and balanced, encouraging pupils to understand, respect, and reflect upon different religious and non-religious worldviews in a modern, diverse society. We aim to promote critical thinking and cultural understanding.
Right of Withdrawal
We recognise that parents/carers have a legal right to withdraw their children from all or part of the Religious Education curriculum and acts of Collective Worship.
If you are considering withdrawing your child, we encourage you to discuss your concerns with the Headteacher first. We are happy to share the curriculum content, lesson examples, and educational aims to help you make an informed decision. Parents may withdraw their child from all or part of the RE curriculum.
While we respect the right of withdrawal, we hope that by making our curriculum open and inclusive, parents will rarely feel the need to exercise this right. However, requests to withdraw a child must be submitted in writing to the Headteacher.
