This term we are studying Castles and The Great Fire of London.
We will be heading to The Tower of London in March to view its history to embed our knowledge.
In science, we are investigating how plants grow. We aim to grow some of our own! As an experiment, we look at beans, their roots and how varieties of beans differ.
In PE we are following Tracks, Trails and Teamwork. This involves searching out hidden clues and working in teams to solve the mystery.
Welcome to the new school year. The children have already transitioned swiftly into the class routines.
Our topic for this half term is Chocolate.
We learn how to make chocolate, where the cacao bean grows, how it was used as currency and why it was important to the Aztec people. In October, The Welding Institute (TWI) will be visiting our class and we will learning how to build chocolate bridges.
Our class story is Charlie and the Chocolate Factory by Roald Dahl.
The children will also be introduced to Traction Man. We will read about his adventures and even design an outfit for him using our science topic knowledge of materials.
After the half term we will be learning about the explorer Ernest Shackleton and his voyage on his ship The Endurance. In December we will have our first class trip to the Scott Polar Research Institute and to the Fitzwilliam Museum.

Our annual celebration of Plough Monday happened on Monday 14th January. The Gog Magog Molly's came to dance for the school. Year 2 and Year 6 learn a dance to then perform.

This half term, during assembly, all the classes performed a poem of their choice.Year 2 performed Hand On The Bridge by Michael Rosen. We had fun learning this.
